The Libyan telephone company, Hatif Libya, announced the disruption of all services of the cellular phone companies Almadar and Libyana in Imsaad town, east Libya, on Sunday.

The company said Imsaad will be affected most with Almadar coverage being affected in some other areas east of Tobruk.

The lack of coverage is being reported as due to illegal excavations carried out by a citizen.

The company said in a statement that coverage is affected due to damage inflicted on the fiber optic cable 5.617 Km from Tobruk.  It also confirmed that work is underway by network technicians and engineers to repair the damage and restore communication services to their previous state.
