A human rights team from the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) conducted a visit to Jdaida main prison in Tripoli, on Monday, Ministry of Justice confirmed.

On its Facebook, the ministry clarified that the UN team's visit was to define and asses the needs and humanitarian and social conditions of the inmates.

"The delegation also met with the head of the judicial police and prison director, where they discussed improving conditions of prisons in Libya and bringing them closer to international human rights standards," the ministry said.
