Human Rights Watch  (HRW) called on the Italian government to suspend support for Libya's Coast Guard until they adhere to a clear plan that fully respects the safety and rights of migrants.

In a statement on Wednesday, the organization demanded the closure of shelters in Libya, which "arbitrarily detain migrants and treat them in a bad way."

The HRW urged the Italian authorities to insist on closing the detention centers, so as not to get involved in the suffering of migrants and refugees in the detention centers.
