The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, revealed Wednesday the speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, had proposed changing the head of the Administrative Control Authority in exchange for changing the head of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC).

This came during Al-Mishri‘s meeting with a group of elected mayors at the HCS headquarters in Tripoli.

Al-Mishri added that Aqila is still upset by his loss of the presidency of the Presidential Council and that he worked to obstruct both the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity.

He also confirmed that “militias” in the western region are seeking to bring in Aqila's candidate for the position of head of the Administrative Control Authority to obstruct the government's work, adding that Aqila is trying with bribes to impose what he cannot by law.
