38 members of the House of Representatives (HoR) demanded the Public Prosecution to open an investigation into the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame statements, in which he accused the "political class" of corruption and theft of public funds,

"Salame is obliged to provide evidence to illustrate his claims in this respect so that justice can be done," HoR members stated on Friday.

"If he fails to do so, his statements will be considered merely a political blackmail with the aim to pressure politicians to accept the UN-backed National Conference prescription imposed by Salame, and on the other hand, to stir up public emotion, in order to weaken the politicians and impose his agenda," the statement added.
