The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, has stated that the commission will set the date of the polling day in December, if it receives the electoral legislation approved by the constitutional basis next July."

"The delay in receiving the electoral legislation after July means that the elections cannot be completed in 2022, which will result in the postponement of the electoral process”, Al-Sayeh added.

He also indicated that the HNEC will work to restore a large part of the electoral process, especially the opening of the voter register to the Libyans, adding that it had not been decided whether the House of Representatives would decide to repeat the entire electoral process or to resume the 2021 elections.
