The head of the High National Election Commission (HNEC) Emad Alsayah said Wednesday, that in the event that the referendum law of the draft constitution is adopted by the House of Representatives, a period of not less than three months will be required to be able to conduct the referendum.

In an interview with the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Alsayah said that if the law is passed, the result of voting on the draft constitution will be announced in late November, adding that the constitution, if approved, states that the current legislative authority, will have three months to issue the necessary legislation for the general elections, while the HENC will be committed to complete the elections under the new constitution of the country, within eight month.

Alsayah Pointed out that in case the constitution was adopted, the presidential and parliamentary elections would be achieved by October 2019, according to the country's new constitution.
