A member of the High Council of Amazigh in Libya, Hisham Hammadi, has called on the international community to intervene in the release of the Amazigh human rights activist, Rabea Jayash, who was arrested in Benghazi on December 27.

Hammadi said that Dignity Operation forces arrested Jayash for speaking the Amazigh language in one of the city's cultural events.

He described Dignity Operation forces as armed ethnic groups, adding that the leader of Dignity Operation, Khalifa Haftar is attempting to end the existence of non-Arab races in Libya, stressing that the Amazigh do not recognize him and will not fight in his ranks.
