The head of the board of directors of the General Electricity Company in Libya (GECOL), Abdul Majid Hamza, stated on Tuesday that the Ubari gas station project is ready to prepare for the operation of the first electricity production units.

GECOL stated on their official Facebook page that Hamza visited the company executing the project, which would generate an extra 600 megawatts to the electrical grid when implemented.

The company said that their technicians are conducting preliminary tests using crude fuel until the line connecting the station and the Sharara oil field is completed and will supply the generating station directly.
