The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, confirmed, during his meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, along with the Envoy of the Italian Foreign Minister, Nicola Orlando, that the HCS had resolved to refer the draft constitutional regulations and proposed laws for the parliamentary and presidential elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) for consultation, as stipulated in the political agreement.

Al-Mishri stressed the HCS’s eagerness to hold the elections as scheduled, along with the necessity for the HoR and the HCS to concur on the legal adoption of the election laws, reiterating his rejection of the proposed law on the election of the president unilaterally approved by the parliament.

He continued by saying that this unilateral approval would obstruct the political process, according to the statement published on the HCS Facebook page.
