Member of the High Council of State (HCS) Abdul Rahman Al-Shater, said that the agreement between the dialogue committees of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the HCS to reshape the Presidential Council was an attempt to spoil the upcoming legislative elections.

"The agreement came too late and at a stage where the country is seeing a qualitative improvement،" Al-Shater explained in a press statement Saturday, adding that the real purpose was to prolong the life of the two councils in power.

He also insisted that the agreement disrupts the referendum on the draft constitution and aims to harm the state and exploit the suffering of citizens by prolonging the transition phase, as he put it.
