The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mishri said that the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame bears the consequences of the repeated bombardment of Mitiga Airport, because of what he said "the deliberate fallacies" in his recent briefing to the UN Security Council.

In a press statement, Al-Mishri said that the inaccuracies in Salame's briefing before the Security Council interpret as a green light for continuing bombing the civil and only airport that links the region with the outside world, putting the lives of thousands of passengers at risk.

In his briefing to the UNSC last week, Salame claimed that Mitiga Airport is being used for "military purposes", which has been taken as an excuse by warlord Khalifa Haftar's militia groups in southern Tripoli to shower the airport with Grad rocket attacks.
