The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mishri said that Russian officials assured him that reports regarding the Russian support for warlord Khalifa Haftar are mere allegations.

"The French position, which considers Haftar commander of the army is completely contrary to the Libyan Political Agreement agreement, which stipulates that all military and security positions are vacant," Al-Mishri told Russia Today channel, accusing Egypt, the UAE and France of contributing in prolonging the Libyan crisis.

He also pointed out that the Libyan army is mostly stationed in the western region, and that those in the eastern region are not all loyal to Haftar, saying that he does not recognize Haftar’s military rank as Marshal, or his position as commander-in-chief of the army, as he put it.
