The High Council of State (HCS) has called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to help lift the siege on Derna city in eastern Libya.

In a letter signed by the two Derna members, Mansour Al-Hassadi and Hassan Estaitah, the HCS called on the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, to intervene to allow urgent humanitarian needs and fuel into the city, and to facilitate the entry and exit of families.

The HCS also called on the Red Cross to help visit those held outside the rule of law by Dignity Operation's militias and to ensure they have contact with their families, in addition to push on disclosing the fate of missing persons from the city.
