Warlord Khalifa Haftar announced on Friday the resumption of oil production and export, subsequent to his forced closure of the operation for eight months, causing losses exceeding 10 billion US dollars to the Libyan state and economy.

Haftar said in a televised speech that he decided to resume production and export of oil “with all the necessary conditions and procedural measures which ensure a fair objective distribution of financial revenues”, adding that it should not be used to support “terrorism”.

Haftar went on to reiterate his rejection of all initiatives to solve the Libyan crisis, in a reference to his adherence to military solutions.
