The Man-made River Authority (MMRA) said Friday that Tripoli and the central region have been cut off from water supplies.
"Gunmen stormed Thursday, Al-Hasawnah system HQ and forced the operators to cut off the electricity for the eastern southern, and northern field wells, resulting in the cutting of water supplies in many areas," MMRA explained on Facebook.
The militants demanded the restoring of electricity supplies to the southern region, according to the MMRA.
The MMRA noted that this is not the first time that such an incident has occured.
