The spokesman for the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Hammouda, announced that the Council of Ministers made a decision to lift the holding of funds and properties of certain individuals, whose rights were proven as legitimate at the behest of the Minister of Justice.

Hammouda added that the Council of Ministers issued its decision at the 6th General meeting, which was held on Sunday in Tripoli, following the demand of the Minister of Justice, Halima Al-Bousif, to amend or cancel the “protection law,” issued by the former National Transitional Council.

She argued that some provisions in the law were set without appropriate legal standards regarding the individuals targeted by the law, noting that the law as it stands permits the Council of Ministers the ability to add names to the list at any given time.
