The Government of National Accord has resumed security cooperation with France, after more than two months of suspension, due to what it said a change in the French position towards Haftar's military offensive against Tripoli.

"France has taken a step back in supporting Haftar in his aggression on Tripoli," Interior Minister, Fathi Bashaga said.

Bashagha told Al Jazeera Live channel that France's U-turn came after meetings with the French side in Tunisia.

He also stressed that they have touched a forceful stance from the French side in favour of the GNA, after what he described its impulsive decision to support Haftar.
