The German Embassy in Libya has expressed strong support for the resumption of the UNHCR operations to evacuate migrants from Libya, after a seven-month pause.

"This mechanism provides durable solutions for the most vulnerable outside of Libya," German ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza tweeted.

The High Commissioner for Refugees has announced the resumption of migrant evacuation flights from Libya after seven months of suspension.

Around 153 refugees from the most vulnerable asylum-seekers and refugees have been evacuated to the UNHCR emergency transit center in Niger, according to the UNHCR, noting that migrants have been offered other durable solutions, including resettlement places with the support of the European Union.
