The German government announced the donation of 5.973 million dollars to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in Libya and in an attempt to alleviate its impact on the nation.

The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development said in a statement on Monday that the funding was allocated to a program targeting 4.8 million individuals, including 409,000 immigrants and a further 274,000 displaced people.

The statement referred to the implementation of the program in partnership with the Government of National Unity (GNU), along with national and international organizations and also the private sector.
