The head of the Information Department of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) Mohammed Al-Takouri, said Tuesday that the company is coordinating with the security authorities to provide safe corridors for technical teams in order to be able to conduct maintenance work to the damaged power stations.

In a press statement, Al-Takouri explained that the rate of deficit in the power network was estimated at about 1300 MW.

He also pointed out that they had begun repairing the malfunctioning and damage that caused the blackout in the southern parts of country on Monday, stressing that the technical team is working in challenging conditions because of the difficult security situation in southern Tripoli.

It is noteworthy that the southern region of Libya plunged into total darkness on Monday.
