The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) started Monday a campaign to remove all illegal power line connections and to take legal action against the violators, in cooperation with the competent security services.

In a statement, the GECOL clarified that the Consumer Services Department in Ein Zara launched Monday a campaign to cut off all illegal power connections of shops and supermarkets, adding that these overload power connections have caused a rise in trade losses and an increase in power consumption.

It also stressed that the General Directorate of Consumer Services will continue its efforts to reduce consumption in order to reduce the load shedding hours during peak times.
