The official spokesman for the General Electricity Company in Libya (GECOL), Ahmed Hussein, stated that the current status of the electrical grid has significantly improved due to the drop in temperature and reduction of power demand.

He said this latest development has led to the absence of power deficit and actually providing a surplus reserve. Hussein added that GECOL will work on the maintenance of some power stations so as to operate at full production capacity during the winter peak without resorting to another load shedding program.
