The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said Monday that the new generating units installed in the electricity network will contribute significantly to improving the electrical voltage.

The Information Office of the GECOL confirmed the installation of three new generating units in Al-Ruwais plant beside two others in the south Tripoli plant, noting that work is underway to reactivate the rest of the units successively.

The company attributed the outage in some areas to the low power generation of the electric network.

The GECOL declared Saturday a total blackout in the southern region and in large parts of Tripoli.
