The Chairman of the state-run electricity company (GECOL), Wiam Al-Abdali, has anticipated that electricity services would improve after linking new power stations to the grid and reopening the oil installations.

Al-Abdali indicated that the first unit of the West Tobruk Station might reach its capacity this week, with an additional 900 added to the network by the end of July.

Regarding energy consumption, Al-Abdali said the per-person energy consumption in Libya is four times higher than in Tunisia.

The GECOL had announced that the first unit of the West Tripoli Power Station had entered the electrical network with a capacity of 156 megawatts after the completion of operational tests.
