GECOL employee dies after being beaten by outlawed group

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) confirmed the death of Khalifa Al-Akrout; one of its employees, as a result of his injuries after being by an outlawed armed group a few days ago at Shakshuk Power Station, in the Western Mountain Region.

"The GECOL declares the death of the martyr of duty, Khalifa Al-Akrout, who passed away Friday in a hospital in Tunisia, after being beaten by an outlawed armed group," GECOL stated on Saturday, explaining that the victim was doing his duty when cutting off the feeding lines to Jado town for maintenance requirements.

The GECOL held the legal and security authorities in the Western Mountain Region the full responsibility for the incident, demanding an investigation in the case and the arrest of the perpetrators.
