The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced on Friday, the theft of 3,690 meters of high-voltage electricity wires in separate areas.

GECOL explained that 2,690 meters of electricity wires were stolen from the old Janzour line of the Karimiya Distribution Department, in addition to the theft of another 1,000 meters from separate locations belonging to the Tripoli Distribution Department.

The theft caused a power outage on 20 transformers, and a number of homes, according to the company.
