The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has announced its intention to start an emergency load shedding program, in Tripoli and cities in the central and southern region.

The company explained that the proposed program is due to the damage caused to the main power transmission circuits, which in turn, affected the production capacity transmitted to several generating stations.

The GECOL confirmed that in the event of securing the locations of the transmission power lines, its maintenance teams are ready to complete the necessary repair work in a short period and end the emergency load shedding program.
