The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) confirmed on Monday, the loss of about 400 megawatts of output due to a decrease in the gas pressure feeding the gas-powered turbines.

This came despite the improvement in the weather during the past days, which is supposed to reflect positively on the performance of the electrical network, the GECOL added.

It also pointed out that this dilemma is one of the most important problems facing the company, explaining that the management of the generation stations will resort to using light fuel “diesel” as an alternative to a low-pressure gas, despite the high cost difference.
