The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has reiterated its support for the United Nations efforts to reach a political solution in Libya.

This came in the final communiqué of the 41st summit of the GCC, which concluded on Tuesday, in Al-Ula province in Saudi Arabia.

In its statement, the council welcomed the ceasefire agreed upon between the Government of National Accord and the Tobruk-based Parliament in Libya, expressing hope that the political dialogue will proceed peacefully between the Libyan parties.

The statement stressed the GCC keenness on preserving the interests of the Libyan people and to safeguard the security, stability, and territorial integrity of Libya, as well as supporting efforts to confront terrorism.
