The Civil Registry Authority (CRA) has denied allegations made by some media outlets that slain dictator Muammar Gaddafi's family was denied the national personal identification number.

The CRA explained that it is committed to implementing procedures for the disbursement of national ID numbers to members of Gaddafi family, on the instruction of the Attorney General.

It attributed the delay to the shortcomings in the procedures required, noting the national ID numbers will be issued as soon as the transactions are completed.

Lawyer of Gaddafi's family, Khalid Al-Zaidi, has stated earlier that the CRA refused to include Gaddafi family members in the national ID number system.
