The Turkish website, SavunmaTR confirmed that an Airbus A-340, which was previously owned by Muammar Gaddafi, arrived in Istanbul from Perpignan Airport in France, where it had been undergoing maintenance work since 2011.

The Turkish website indicated that the Turkish authorities are due to complete the maintenance of the plane, before handing it over to Libya to enter service for the public, having been grounded for some years.

It noted that France had returned the plane to Libya in 2013 after converting it to a regular passenger craft, however, due to instability, it was subsequently returned to France to complete the work needed.
