The Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee announced Sunday that it had completed identifying fuel smuggling dens in the southern region and the fuel stations involved with them.

The committee posted images on its Facebook page that said it belonged to dens used for smuggling fuel in the south of Sabha city and Mahdia district, noting that a large number of fuel stations were also engaged in the smuggling operations in the south.

The committee revealed that fuel tanks were sold at a price of LYD 100.000 for each with a load of 40,000 litres, while the original price of the distribution companies does not exceed 5000 dinars.

"The phenomenon of fuel smuggling is costing the state treasury a loss of more than 750.000 million dollars annually," the committee explained, urging the Libyans to cooperate with the relevant authorities to eliminate such violations.
