France announced on Wednesday, its regret for the resignation of UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame.

“Ghassan Salame has carried out his mission with dignity since June 2017. We commend his efforts aimed at a ceasefire and the initiation of political dialogue between Libyan parties, under the sponsorship of the United Nations”. The French Foreign Ministry stated,

The ministry called on Libyan parties to adhere to the ceasefire and to establish comprehensive political talks, wherein all sides are represented.

France went on to renew its full and unconditional support for the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General on this matter.
