French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called on the international community to show resolve and impose new sanctions on those who hinder the political process in Libya.

"The current situation requires more firmness towards those who want to impose the fait accompli for their own benefit," Le Drian stated in a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

He also called on the international community to resort to sanctions against what he described as armed groups that threaten the capital Tripoli, AFP reported.
