The French Foreign Ministry warned its citizens not to travel to Libya due to the volatile security situation and the risk of being exposed to abduction.

The decision came after the liberation of two Frenchmen in Benin from the hands of armed groups.

The ministry said that the embassy HQ in Tripoli will be closed temporarily, calling on its citizens in Libya to contact the Consulate General of France in Tunisia and urging French tourists to be more cautious in the African coast countries.
