The Tripoli branch of the Libyan Red Crescent Society announced that it had recovered four drowned bodies of migrants, including those of a woman and a child, off the coast of Qarabulli.

In a statement, the Red Crescent confirmed that 40 further migrants attempting to make their way to Europe were rescued from the coast same coastal area and are presently receiving medical services.

The spokesman for the Libyan Navy Chief of Staff announced Monday the rescue of 291 illegal migrants, who were on a rubber dinghy north of the coast of the city of Zawiya, also attempting to make the trip to European shores.
