The former American envoy to Libya, Jonathan Winer, says his country believes that the only solution to the crisis in Libya is to hold elections.

In media statements, Winerr called on Libyan political leaders to compete to provide services to their people and then give them the right to choose who would represent them.

The US diplomat said that all countries have interests in Libya, and some countries do not want stability because this contradicts their benefits, stressing that Libya's stability will reflect positively on all Mediterranean countries.

He also accused Russia of seeking to control Libya at the political, economic, and military levels, calling on all parties to consolidate Libyan sovereignty, benefit from high oil prices, and spare the oil sector the political struggle.
