Brigadier General Salah al-Din al-Samu'i, the Former Tripoli Security Chief, was shot by gunmen on Sunday, in front of his home between the area of Salahaldin and Khalet Al-Furjan, south of Tripoli.

Security sources assessed that the motive of the attack was the theft of Samu'i's car, notwithstanding that Tripoli Security Directorate, which investigated the incident, did not yet identify the actors responsible.

"Samu'i is in a critical condition in the intensive care room and is currently receiving treatment in one of Tripoli's clinics," medical sources said.
