Firefighters battled a fire on Friday in the Ain Mara forest of the Green Mountain region east of Libya and managed to bring the blaze under control amid the challenging weather conditions.
The authorities did not clarify the cause of the fire, but the country experienced exceptional hot weather last week exceeding 45C in some places and disrupting everyday life.
In a statement, Minister of Interior Brigadier General Khaled Mazen thanked the National Safety Authority for their efforts and excellent response.
Mazen also praised the efforts of the local people, the Endowment Office, the employees of the General Electricity Company, the agricultural authorities, and civil society institutions, who participated in putting out the fire with the assistance of the fire crew.
