France, Britain, the United States, Germany and Italy have reiterated the importance of adhering to the date of elections on 24 December 2021 and of expediting the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters and forces from Libya, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.

This came during a meeting held by the UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis, with senior officials representing the aforementioned countries, to discuss the implementation of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum leading up to the holding of national elections, the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the UN Security Council resolutions in particular, according to a statement by the UN mission in Libya.

The UN envoy also held telephone conversations with high-ranking officials representing the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov and NATO Deputy Secretary-General  Mircea Geoana, where he discussed with them the political and security situation in Libya and the region.
