Spokesperson for the UNHCR, Babar Baloch, confirmed that they had transferred 66 refugees from Libya to Rwanda.

"The first group included 26 children, most of whom, were not accompanied by families. These children had received documents, immediately upon their arrival in the Rwandan capital Kigali," UNHCR spokesperson explained.

The refugees were sheltered in an immigration centre and provided with accommodation, food, and basic relief, according to the UNHCR.

The group of migrants is the first to benefit from the emergency transport mechanism, agreed earlier this month between Rwanda, UNHCR, and the African Union.
