The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Marine has signed an agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to upgrade the organization's presence in Libya from an office to a representative.

"The enhancement of the representation of FAO in Libya will give positive impetus to the agricultural sector and will allow it to benefit from international support in capacity building," the ministry explained.

The agreement was announced following the participation of Agriculture Minister, Abu Bakr Al-Mansouri at the international meeting of donor countries to combat date palm red weevil, which was held in Abu Dhabi last week.
