The EU Ambassador to Libya, Jose Sabadell, has described his first contact with Prime-elect Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah as "very good" confirming that they both agreed to the need for the swift formation of a new, inclusive government that would be able to carry out important reforms and lead the way to the national elections on 24 December 2021.

The EU mission said in a statement that Ambassador Sabadell congratulated Prime Minister Dbeibah during a phone call and offered the EU support for the demanding tasks awaiting the new executive authority.

Sabadell said the EU is looking forward as co-chair of the Economic Working Group emanating from the Berlin process to working with Debeibah and his government. "We are ready to contribute to the transformation of economy from driver of conflict to driver of Peace," the EU delegation tweeted, underscoring that reconstruction and basic services will be key issues.
