The EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini called member states of the United Nations to prevent arms shipments from reaching Libya and to protect its oil resources.

The EU high representative emphasized in her briefing to the European Union on the need to put the UN-led political process in Libya back on track, in order to reach a unified government that represents all Libyans and to prepare for parliamentary and presidential elections.

Mogherini also demanded an immediate end to the fighting in Tripoli, urging the key players to refrain from what she called the systematic use of incitement to violence and to bring conflicting sides back to the negotiating table.
