The European Union mission has confirmed the return of 162 Nigerian migrants from Libya to their home country, on Tuesday, with the support of the European Union.

A statement by the mission yesterday, said that the process falls under the voluntary humanitarian return program of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Libyan shores have become a major departure point for migrants attempting to cross to Europe, However, these dangerous crossing journeys have resulted in the drowning of dozens, while those who are rescued are housed temporarily in refugee camps before being evacuated later.
