The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stressed the necessity of ridding Libya of foreign mercenaries, calling on the international community to back the legitimate Government of National Accord (GNA).

He called for an end to the putschists, adding that they must be held accountable for their crimes, not least of which, the mass graves of their victims.

In statements issued to a Turkish newspaper, Erdogan added that building up political and economic strength of Libya would create stability in the region of North Africa and the European continent as a whole.

He stressed that his country holds no ambitions whatsoever, for achieving sovereignty or territory of any neighboring country.
