The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan held discussions with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin on the latest developments in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean region.

The Turkish presidency said in a statement that Erdogan and Putin concurred, during a telephone conversation on Monday, on the necessity of continuing dialogue and close cooperation regarding the situation in both the eastern Mediterranean and Libya.

The Kremlin said in a statement that Putin focused in particular on the Libyan crisis during the call, calling attention to the need to take firm steps towards a permanent ceasefire.
