The Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Haider Al-Sayeh, announced the dispatch of a specialized epidemiological investigation team to Al-Jufra, Sukna and Sabha, all cities where numerous cases of malaria have been detected.

Al-Sayeh said that the team will survey ponds, bogs and various wet areas in order to determine whether mosquitoes that transmit the disease are present in those places in high quantities to conduct a survey for detection of infections amongst the population and reach any individual who shows signs or symptoms of infection.

He further confirmed the availability of medicine for the treatment of the disease, explaining that the mosquitoes that transmit the disease need humid breeding areas with fresh water and are unable to withstand high temperatures.
