Italian Eni group has cut its oil production in Libya to half, Eni's CEO Claudio Descalzi has confirmed, clarifying that the outputs have decreased from 300 thousand to about 160 thousand barrels per day.

Eni's CEO explained that the company will focus -in light of the continued oil crisis in Libya- on the safety of its employees and facilities.

He emphasized that efforts would be directed towards preserving assets and equipment and securing the company's employees.

"The Libyan crisis has no effect on the oil prices, but it is costing Libya a lot," Descalzi added.
